Invited food review
After a tiring morning of fun and play at The Grandstand, we adjourn to a kids’ friendly / family-style restaurant – Treehouse Cafe – for F.O.O.D and more play stuff for the kids!
Spacious seating area for diners, treehouse play zone for the kids and even a nursing/baby room for the nursing mummies! Very thoughtful for families.
We were famished by then and were happily greeted by an endless stream of dishes from the kitchen! The cuisine here is mainly European and Asian. There is a kid’s menu for little ones below 12 years old. For S$15 you get a main, a soft drink/Ribena & a scoop of Movenpick ice-cream! That’s a nice treat.
I choose the “Fish Soupy Soup” for Xi En. It’s different choice for all the rest of the children present on that day. Most were tucking in to Pizza, pasta, nuggets etc. Just in case, mummies out there think that I am a Nazi mummy…
Let’s just say he enjoys Asian dishes more than Western. The few things he actually eat are clear soup, fish and vegetables. Fries are the only exception.
The kid’s set menu. Xi En finished most of the soup and fish! And guessed what.. he didn’t need ice-cream thereafter.
For the older children and adults, there are many options to satisfy your hunger. These are just some of the dishes we sampled for the day. I would say that the food here will appeal to the majority of locals and foreigners. Not exactly gourmet but more family-style.
The western selections:
The Asian selections (which I personally prefer!):
Dessert which we sampled; Tiramisu and Chocolate Laval Cake:
The chocolate laval cake proved to be a common favourite.
With the help of some distractions (a TV streaming cartoons) and a dedicated play area, adults will be able to get a hearty meal while keeping an eye on the little ones. For the really young ones, do exercise some caution when climbing up the stairways. I would be back again simply for a meal which I can eat without 2 hands full.
