City Square Mall presents Nick JR!

Media-invite

We had been “malls-hopping” this holiday season! The best time of the year for shopping at the malls is Christmas season!

The shopping malls are decked with their Christmas best and there are galore of free shows, characters Meet and Greet and goodies to redeem with minimum spends.

City Square Mall is no stranger to bringing in well known characters, catering specially to the kids!

This school holiday, City Square Mall brought in my boys’ favourite cartoon characters: Dora & Boots, Paw Patrol, Blaze the Monster Machines (at the outdoor playground area) and Bubble Guppies!

No prizes for guessing what is their favourite cartoon channel! NICK JR! Open-mouthed smile

They can shout “Abre” in Spanish, name every single Paw Patrollers, identify that Blaze had a recent makeover in transformation and chant “Outside outside, everybody outside!” with the Bubble Guppies!

If you don’t know what I am talking about, no worries – I didn’t know better as well when we subscribed to Nick Jr.. Open-mouthed smile

And if you have a big fan of Nick Jr. characters at home, don’t miss out this “all stars” live show and Meet & Greet sessions at City Square Mall. You can redeem a Meet & Greet pass with $50 spend in the mall.

For a minimum spend of $40 at the mall, you can also redeem a Wonderland Pass to participate at the various stations at the City Green Outdoor Park’s playland. These are very simple games such as bubble blowing at the Bubble Guppies station, a mini playground at Blaze, photo taking at Paw Patrol, catching falling balls at Team Umizoomi and dress-up at Shimmer and Shine.

And a quick note that the playground at the outdoor area had been revamped. It is even better than before with an old-school “turnstile” merry-go-round.

One BIG IMPORTANT TIP: Go on weekdays if you can. We were there on a Sunday afternoon and it was really crowded; with a long queue at the redemption counters and a crowd almost everywhere. Evenings might be better if you want to play outdoors too – to avoid the heat (if any).

There is a daily snowfall playtime at the Outdoor Park if you are there at 8pm and 9pm as well. So evenings are ideal. Smile

If you don’t want your photos to be blocked (like mine); either be early and chope a seat in the middle. Or head upstairs to level 2 and 3 to sit at those common areas – it will be better views than at the sides. We were lazy to move. Smile with tongue out

Xi En loved to take photos with mascots any time. Smile Eizac isn’t in the picture because he is scared of mascots who are larger than the cartoons he know so well! hahaha

Celebrate Christmas with SpongeBob SquarePants at City Square Mall

Media Invite

Are your kids a fan of SpongeBob SquarePants?

I happened to have a fan at home. Xi En enjoyed the jokes from the cartoon (though, honestly I am not a huge fan)>:P. Well, at least he has his Daddy for company.

We went down for the all-new live show at City Square Mall which features SpongeBob and his best friend Patrick Star preparing to celebrate the Krabby Patty burger. Everyone is invited to the party!

My favorite character has to be Patrick. He is just too cute with his starry shape. 😀

Look out too, for grouchy Plankton who stuck around trying to steal the secret recipe for Krabby Patty.

Xi En enjoyed the live show and couldn’t wait to take a photo with some of his favourite cartoon characters. He was too shy to hug SpongeBob though. 😛

This year, City Square Mall also set up an outdoor SpongeBob Playland at the City Green gate. With a minimum spend of $30, shoppers get to redeem a SpongeBob Playland activity pass at Level 2 Customer Service Counter. There are various activities which are suitable for age 3 and above. We only managed to try 2 of the activities as there was a heavy downpour in the afternoon. So, do check out the weather forecast to plan your activities.

There are shows everyday except Monday. 2pm & 7pm (Tues – Fri); 1pm, 4pm & 7pm (Sat & Sun). The outdoor PlayLand ends on 3rd Jan 2016.

Well, there is always the wet weather plan even if it is rainy season. We ducked indoors for ZooMoov! The animal rides are great fun for my kids any. time. any. where. 😀

On a side note, we found a relatively new eatery at Level 2 – Face to Face Noodles (面对面). I ate at their outlet in Johor Bahru many times when I was working in JB. Happy to find it here now. It’s a slightly different concept but the quality is quite similar and their famous Chilli Pan Mee is yummilicous! Here, they provided pre-packed chilli whereas in JB we heaped on the special chilli freely at the table. 😀 Prices are of course more expensive here (about S$8.90 for a bowl of noodles before GST and service charge). Wished I can pay Ringgit but it’s good enough to have them import the noodles and chilli here. 🙂

If you are a chilli fan, enjoy chewy noodles with Hong Kong style char siew, don’t forget to try it out and let me know if you liked it too? 🙂

Barney’s Jukebox Party “Live” at City Square Mall

Media Invite

We are coming to the end of June holidays real soon and if you haven’t been to any mall’s event, you might like to check out Barney at City Square Mall!

Ending this Sunday (21st June 2015), you still have time to catch Barney and his friends “Live” at City Square Mall.

We had some fun times grooving to Barney tunes earlier this month and the boys enjoyed seeing the purple dino coming to life in front of them. We didn’t managed to get the front-row seats, but rest assured there are many good aerial view spots from the 2nd and 3rd stories. If your kids are huge fans, spend a minimum of $60 in the mall to redeem a photo opportunity with Barney!

There are also fringe activities at the entrance of the mall. The theme is Good Ole Fun In the Park. As the name implies, you will find old school amusement park rides. Super nostalgic to me!

Prices start from $5 per ride; wished it’s old school prices too. 😀

As it was drizzling a little, we didn’t managed to try most of the rides. But when the rain was lighter, Xi En was challenged by his Daddy to try this out.  I was not surprised he readily agreed to take the Viking together with his Daddy. Xi En always enjoyed thrill rides and height phobia doesn’t seem to exist in his dictionary.

And not forgetting the Smiley Train which is back this season too. The boys enjoyed it last Christmas and wouldn’t say no to another ride.

Barney’s Jukebox Party “Live” on Stage is a free 15 mins show. So do catch it if you are in the area.
