Huggies Event @ Polliwogs

Media Invite

About a month back we were invited to attend the Huggies event held at Polliwogs at Vivocity. We (Actually it’s the kids) were thrilled when they saw the indoor playground! It is still a fairly new playground opened under a year and thus the play areas and gears are still well maintained. Who doesn’t like new stuff ya. Smile

As Xi En wasted no time to dash off into the play zones, Eizac attended the Huggies media event with me at Polliwogs’s designated “party” room. Rahul Asthana, Marketing Director for Baby & Childcare, Kimberly Clark gave us an informative introduction on the in-depth research and new technology which went into the product design for the new Huggies Ultra Pants.

My key takeaway was that Huggies really knew what parents wanted out of a diaper pants. With research done on more than 150 Singaporean babies, they came out with a highly innovative design which I have yet to see it in any other diaper brands in Singapore. I won’t be surprised if other brands are sitting up now and such innovation might be replicated in time to come. In my opinion, the key design feature which differentiates it from other brands is the Easy Open Sides with refastenable Magic Tapes.

As a mummy of 2, I have tried a fair share of diaper pants and I am just wowed by these Magic Tapes. After Eizac used it for a few weeks, we can testify that it allows easy removal of diapers (especially useful when the babies poop!) and it can be adjusted to provide a customised fit. Gone are the days that I need to tear off the sides of diaper pants to get them off the legs.

The new slim absorbent core technology helps to lock wetness away and prevent “drooping” diapers when they are heavy and wet. Of course, then again, diapers need to be changed no matter how good they are. Huggies Ultra Pants just helped to give more “mileage” out of one piece of diaper. Open-mouthed smile Read my full review on Huggies Ultra Pants here.

We were treated to yummy refreshments hosted by Polliwogs. Tasty finger food, if you want to hold a party there next time. (Didn’t get to take any photos of the food as I was chasing after those 2 boys!!). Eizac joined his brother at the kiddy play area and that gave us a chance to test out the Ultra Pants in motion. It fitted well, lasted long and seemed comfortable even as Eizac raced up and down the play structures. No leakages, no red marks from long wear or abrasion. I am one happy Mummy when such basic stuff are taken care of.

Eizac also had a mini photoshoot at the photo booth. He was the last one to take the shoot as he was getting cranky with his nap time approaching. But the photographer and his team were helpful; did a number of fast takes and we finally got a nice one!

And our 2 minutes of camera time when I took some questions from the Huggies events folks. Eizac was almost ready to yank off the microphone when it came near though! hhahaaa.

It was an enjoyable morning/afternoon out with Huggies at Polliwogs! We had great fun! Thank you Huggies for inviting us! Smile

Advertorial

Rolling, crawling, cruising, walking and running!

All the above are the key milestones of all our little ones. And it is the delight of all mummies ( and of course – daddies, grandmas, grandpas and etc) to witness all these tiny but so-significant steps.

I often read about “K’s first tummy time” or “D’s first steps!” or “J’s first hands-off!” on my Facebook newsfeed and these are proud moments many parents love to share with their friends and relatives.

I am no different from the masses – totally go ga-ga over Eizac’s first roll, first independent step and first dance!

He likes to move’ it move’ it! Eizac proved to be similar as his older brother –  growing to be an active unstoppable toddler!

With that, he was “upgraded” to pull-up diaper pants at an earlier stage as it was much easier to dress him up when he became more mobile. Recently, Huggies sent us some of their newly launched Korea-imported pull-up pants (Huggies® Ultra Pants) to try out. Honestly I was apprehensive on how “innovative” diaper pants can be. But we were sold after trying it out!

Major differences which set Huggies® Ultra Pants apart from other brands we tried before:

1) Easy Open Sides

This is THE THING for me! I have not came across any pull up pants with such tapes which are designed to be pulled on like underwear and taken off like a diaper. i.e. you won’t need to fumble with tearing off the sides when your little one does a big one in pull-up pants. That had happened to me many times before where yucky poo gets on the little one’s legs and even hands while we try to change him out of pull-up pants.

With Huggies “refastenable” Easy Open Sides, the Huggies® Ultra Pants actually comes with “add in “Easy Open Sides with refastenable tapes that has a low peel strength and high sheer strength. The design and shape of the hook on the pants is easier to peel it down than across, which also would make it harder for the child to open himself or herself.  Cleaning up is a breeze and adjustment for a better fit is just but a tape away!

The design team behind this made it such that the hook material is not easily ripped off by our little ones and also prevent it from constant popping open. Yet it is just a one-step peel-off when you need to change the diaper.
The design and shape of the Easy Open Sides is made to be peeled downwards (as shown in the photo above) rather than side way to prevent curious fingers from ripping it off themselves! Active movements from my toddler withstood the test and the sides stayed close despite him running, kneeling, crawling around. And to test it further, the tapes maintained its’ usability even after I peel it on and off a few time. I dare say this innovation is the best for any range of pull-up pants I have come across thus far!

2) Made for Movement

Interestingly, on the onset Huggies® Ultra Pants look like any other pull-up pants. But it is actually a slimmer and flexible design which allows Eizac to move freely and yet it fits snugly. The stretchy waistband and sides adjust according to his active movement and doesn’t give way or “rolled-up” (as with some other brands I experienced before).

Huggies® Ultra Pants also come in separate designs for boys and girls simply because we are made differently. Smile  Sizes start from M so your little mobile one can try this out at  an earlier stage. No girl’s version photos here because I don’t have a baby girl. But you can check out the photos on Huggies website.

3) Leakage protection Band

No mummy likes a leaking diaper. Especially when she is all dressed up! Huggies® Ultra Pants comes with a double layered leakage protect band around the legs which guard leaks from the sides and yet provides a comfortable fit. Eizac had used brands which left deep red marks on the sides due to poor design/material; even though he doesn’t have thunder thighs!

4) Keep dry for up to 12 hours

Another score in my books! Because I totally dislike changing diapers at night! With a groggy mind and sleep-deprived body, my preference is not to change any diapers in the middle of the night. With Huggies’s new slim absorbent core technology, it boasts of a long lasting absorbency which helps to keep the little one dry overnight. Even better, it is not bulky after long hours of usage; thus allowing ease of movement. This is extremely helpful if you are out for long hours or travelling overseas. Have you seen babies with “drooping-down” diapers due to the heavy usage? Eizac had such episodes before and he looked like he is dragging an extra lump of fats below his legs!

Also, It is definitely comforting to know that Huggies® Ultra Pants are made breathable and clinically proven to help prevent diaper rash.

5) Wetness Indicator

Of course any good diaper still needs to be change. It’s always helpful to have a wetness indicator which turns from yellow to blue so you won’t need to guess! This is especially good for first time parents in my opinion. I recalled when I was a first-time mummy, I had little clue when to change the diaper! Experienced parents might laugh at that; but with new parents – anything that gives a clue helps. Smile

Overall, I am very happy with the new Huggies Ultra Pants as it had exceeded my expectations. I think my baby is equally satisfied too.

Bottoms stay DRY with DRYPERS

With the advancement of times, we are cultivated to “like” efficiency and “dislike” sluggishness/incompetency. For one I cannot take a clumsy diaper.

As a mummy of two young boys, I have probably gone through a few thousands diapers change. My wish list of a solid diaper is very simple; just 2 major points:

1) COST – My “market survey” or rather the “auntie” in me had surveyed major supermarkets and online stores to conclude that Drypers is easy on the purse. It may not be the cheapest; but it’s the most value-for-money diaper I have come across.

2) HOLDS THE STUFF IT’S SUPPOSED TO HOLD! – This is a deal breaker for me. I can understand that there are bound to be accidents from time to time; but 99% of the time I don’t expect the diaper to fail me.

It’s really as simple as that. Other frills are bonuses.

I have experimented with various brands in the market and is happy to conclude our past few years’ favourite:

DRYPERS!

The nice people at Drypers provided us with some of their improved Drypers Wee Wee Dry which promises enhanced features.

I am a user since 2009. Or rather my boys. Thus I can honestly testify that the changes are such great enhancements to the product!

Key pointers are:

1) A new Flexi-Tape (which is talc-resistant to boot!):  Multiple refastening made possible and it’s easy peasy! No more trying to use masking tape to fasten a worn-out tape but not used diaper (some parents would understand why it’s not used but tape is worn out….Answer: a struggling/crying boy).

2) Zip Dry Core: There are more absorbent particles which help to absorb and lock urine inside the diaper to keep the bottoms drier and thus more comfortable. I have witnessed that just 1 piece of Dryper Wee Wee Dry can last Kai En 10 hours of sleep (overnight) without any change in the night. I hate late nights changing because it wakes the little one up and I will have a tough time soothing him back to dreamland again. It definitely helps a lot to have a diaper which holds up urine till the next morning. Beauty sleep..grant me some please.

3) 4 Botanical Extracts: Aloe Vera, Chamomile, Vitamin E and Olive Extracts. Holding up urine is important but I do not want nappy rash either! It’s reassuring to know such properties are in the diaper to keep little bottoms clean too.

Lastly, this is what brightens my older boy’s face:

The super cute and bright graphics! Though some other brands do have little cartoons as well but by far I think Drypers has the brightest and most eye-catching one! We have bought many series before. Once with alphabets (we taught Xi En the ABC during diaper change). The latest one is full of acorns. He named it the “acorn diaper”. It’s helpful that Drypers differentiate sizes by the graphics so you won’t grab the wrong one for the different ones in the family!
